IaH National Conference in the Philippines

 

The three FRIENDS partner universities in the Philippines, led by the Cebu Technological University, hosted  two-days National Conference of the Internationalization at home on October 26th and 27th, 2021. Co-hosts of the event were Saint Louis University and the University of Cebu.

With the FRIENDS Project overall objective to strengthen the involved Asian universities internationalization capabilities and to develop their students’ global competence through the purposeful integration of intercultural dimensions into the universities formal and informal curriculum, the consortium members in the Philippines reached out to higher education policy makers, practitioners and peers through the FRIENDS National Conference on IaH. The event had the theme of “Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity in the Internalization @ Home”.

The success of the conference, which was held virtually with more than 2000 attendees from different parts of the Philippines, was also due to the speeches of experts on internationalization from the Philippines, Poland, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Hungary.

Day one of the conference started with a welcome speech by Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta Jr., SUC President IV (CTU). The agenda of the 2-day conference included topics on the Value of Equity re Internationalization at Home, Diversity: Creating a Climate of Creativity and Innovation, and the topic Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity About Internationalization at Home.

The conference finished with presentation of certificates of appreciation to the guests speakers who attended. Over the course of the 2-day conference 2399 participants attended with more than 75 percent of satisfaction recorded among participants.
